Projects happening now
Beekeeping Training and Tour
Multi-city training seminars in partnership with Multi-Sweet China, FUTA, and Kano Wildlife and Zoo. Includes online training, student clubs within institutions, local beekeeping communities, and extension ambassadors in Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo languages. Over 5,000 individuals trained across all value chains of apiculture.
YFAI Community and Market Hub
Digitalization of YFAI website (www.yfai.org) for training and marketing. Supporting members with branded apiculture products, non-branded goods, and other business sectors. Building direct market linkages and export readiness for beekeepers across the continent.
YFAI Women Innovation Hub
Specialised training and support hub for women entering beekeeping, meeting 40% inclusion targets. Developed the African Bee Suite made with local materials to suit Africa's climate. Training on harvesting, processing, branding, and storage of apiculture products.
Projects we have delivered
YFAI Establishment & ApiExpo 2018
Formation of YFAI team and establishment at ApiExpo hosted by Nigeria Government under the Ministry of Agriculture. First national conference gathering all African stakeholders in apiculture at International Conference Center Abuja.
2nd Apimondia Symposium Ethiopia
Presented position paper "Integration of Youth in Apiculture for Food Security and Wealth Creation" at AU Building, Addis Ababa. Networked with global apiculture organizations and declared YFAI formation to the international community.
1st National Youth Beekeeper Summit
World Bee Day celebration partnered with Southwest Beekeepers' Forum at Obafemi Awolowo University. Over 200 participants attended. Beekeeping awareness extended to primary schools with equipment donations.
YouthConnekt Africa Summit Rwanda
Invited by Ministry of Youth, Rwanda to the 3rd edition with 5,000+ youth delegates. YFAI called for establishment of apiculture department and strategic policy statement to transform the sector in Africa.
Nigeria Honey Repository
Collected 15 honey samples from 6 states (Oyo, Enugu, Sokoto, Jigawa, Edo, Osun). Officially handed over to RMRDC in 2023 with review to add other hive products and beekeeping historical data.
Higher Institution Beekeeping Club
Launched at University of Abuja, Faculty of Agriculture. 25 students inducted with YFAI support kits including gloves, 1 bee suit, and 4 Kenya top bar hives per student group.
