Beyond the numbers
Before YFAI, I was unemployed for two years. Now I manage 23 hives, employ two assistants and my honey is sold in three supermarkets. Beekeeping gave me dignity.
Our cooperative went from 5 members to 45 in 18 months. YFAI taught us not just beekeeping, but how to run a business. We now export to Europe.
As a woman in my village, I was told beekeeping was not for me. YFAI changed that. I now train other women and we have our own label. The bees do not discriminate.
